Appointed as the 7th Bishop of the See of Tagbilaran on 13 October 2016 by His Holiness, Pope Francis, Most Rev. Alberto S. Uy, D.D., commonly known as “Bishop Abet,” was ordained to the Episcopacy on 06 January 2017. He completed his theological studies at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary, Cagayan De Oro City in 1993, and was ordained to the Presbyterate on 14 April 1993 by His Excellency, Most Rev. Christian Vicente F. Noel, D.D. After several years of serving the Faithful of the Diocese of Talibon, he left to obtain his Licentiate Degree in Sacred Theology at the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Loyola School of Theology in Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City in 1997. In 2006, he took his Doctorate in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. Humble and assiduous, Bishop Abet is enthused to care for the underprivileged, the poor, the neglected and the environment. He is renowned for his inspiring homilies and reflections and for his pastoral work for those in the peripheries.
