Mr. Erico Joseph T. Cañete
Erico Joseph T. Canete completed his AB Philosophy at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Tagbilaran City. He pursued his theological study at the University of Santo Tomas, Central Seminary – Manila for a while and consequently took a regency program where he was assigned at the Bishop’s residence. Seeing another calling, he pursued and completed his masteral study under the Opus Dei at the University of Asia and the Pacific – Manila specializing in Values Education or Moral Philosophy.
Eric, as he is fondly called, is currently teaching philosophy subjects like Logic, Philosophy of Man, Moral Philosophy, History of Philosophy, Metaphysics, among others at Holy Name University since 1986 and at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary for three years now.
Aside from the teaching career, he is currently serving as Sangguniang Bayan Secretary in Baclayon, Bohol after he served as town councilor for twenty years.
Balancing quality time with his family and work, Eric is also doing tour guiding being an accredited tour guide by the Department of Tourism since 2002.
He has a passion for writing being a guest columnist in a local daily and a passion for music being a trainor of a church choir and a band member that regularly plays music in one of the Restos in Bohol.
He is married to Antoniette Bonje Canete and blessed with two sons; VJ and JB.
Eric, as an advocate of mental health and suicide prevention, is one of the founding members of PagPaKaBuhi – a nomenclature he coined to mean “PAGhatag ug PAgtagad sa KAbililhun sa kinaBUHI.” A year later, he composed PagPaKaBuHi song to inspire other members to see Christ’s image in all men and to serve HIM through them.
