Ms. Karen F. Capapas

Mrs. Karen Flood-Capapas has taught specialization courses in BS Psychology and general education courses at the College of Arts and Sciences at Holy Name University for 18 years. Aside from accomplishing her teaching tasks, she has also supervised the internship program and community involvement of the BS Psychology students. This year, Ma’am K (as her students fondly call her) has taken on the new role as the university’s coordinator for gender and development (GAD) under the office of the Guidance and Counseling Services.

Ma’am K has earned her BS Psychology degree at Trinity University of Asia, and has completed her academic requirements for her MA in clinical psychology at the University of San Carlos. She continues to aspire to finish her MA degree both for her professional growth and to be able to serve the community.

To be able to help the members of the community, especially those who are marginalized, has always been one of the advocacies of Ma’am K. In fact, she has in the past partnered with rehabilitative institutions like the Bohol District Jail, NGOs like BLDF and the Local Government Unit in Baclayon, in order to bring awareness about the importance of mental health and also to extend services to the residents of BDJ and the municipality of Baclayon. In 2019, she has cofounded PagPaKaBuhi, a volunteer-run organization which aims to promote mental health and provide services (e.g. counseling, assessment, and other interventions) that are accessible to everyone.

Mrs. Karen Capapas is happily married to her husband Roel, and their union is blessed with two handsome teenagers – Malcolm and Magnus.
